What's it all about?

Microdermabrasion is a treatment for the face that uses manual exfoliation to remove any debris and the dead, outer layer of the skin. The piece of equipment used is a gentle wand that rolls over the face, this wand is tipped with diamond which is a gentle but efficient surface to exfoliate the skin. Along with many benefits that come with this treatment to improve the appearance and quality of your skin, it also aids in promoting the production of collagen within the skin which is essential for young and firm skin. The treatment is completely pain free, safe and gentle on the skin; there is no down time to the treatment and therefore the treatment can be completed any time of the day. There is a difference between the regular crystal dermabrasion and the diamond version that we offer; aluminium oxide crystals are blasted onto the skin during microdermabrasion and the system will suck dead skin cells and debris from the skin; now although these have been efficient in the treatment, there has been studies to chow links between cancer and aluminium oxide. Many modern places will alternatively offer microdermabrasion using sodium bicarbonate crystals, however these have not been as effective. The diamond version used a diamond tipped wand can be used more accurately, but work in a similar manner as microdermabrasion.

The Science Behind it

The treatment causes the reproduction of fibroblast cells within the skin which causes a production of collagen fibres. These fibres are tightly arranged within the epidermis, as well as being thicker. The treatment also causes an increase of elastin fibres within the epidermis which allows the skin to become firmer and tighter. The treatment causes all beneficial cells within the skin layer to be produced more rapidly than usual as well as the cells being larger and healthier. The treatment can often make the skin feel dry and tight for the first 24-48 hours due to the disruption of the epidermis, however once this passes, the epidermis is kick started into producing skin cells.
